Frequently Asked Questions about the 10k race

We have a limit of 1000 runners in the 10k race and once the limit is reached entries will be closed. To be sure of getting a place and a t-shirt of the correct size it is safest to enter online well in advance. If we have not reached the 1000 participant limit by midnight of the Friday before the race then places may be available on the day at a cost of £25 for all categories. We will indicate on the main page of the web site when it is full (in the past this has happened up to a week before the rave).
You will be able to collect your race number and some pins at any of the following times:
Pre-registration will take place at Aldershot Cricket Club :
- Wednesday 10th October 2018 – 6pm to 9pm. This is our normal club night so you can come and run with us if you register by 7pm 🙂
- Saturday 13th October 2018 – 8.30am to 12pm (midday)
Race day registration is at the race start at Aldershot Rugby Stadium (GU11 2TD) :
Registration will be open from 8.30am.
We would urge you to use pre-registration if possible, as it would really help us out.
Yes, you can can collect the race number of another runner at pre-registration only. To facilitate this, please bring a letter signed by the absent runner authorising you to collect on their behalf.
Runners must collect their race numbers in person on race day.
Nobody under the age of 17 will be permitted to take part in the 10k race. This is a condition of our Association of Running Clubs race permit.
For those under the age of 17 who wish to take part, there will be a free fun run of approximately 2km. Entries for this event will be available on the day and are open to all ages.
Unfortunately, due to the largely off road nature of the course and narrow sections of canal towpath, we would discourage running with pushchairs for your safety and the safety of other runners.
Yes, there will be a water stop at around the 5k point and water will be available to runners at the finish. We do ask that any runner who feels they will need extra water/gels during the race supplies them for themselves.
Unfortunately we are not able to offer refunds on entry fees, or defer entries. If you cannot run then you can transfer your race number to another person. You can do this yourself up until midnight on the Friday before the race by logging in to the Full On Sport website. If you have any problems or need any assistance with this, please use the Contact Us form to get in touch. To avoid messing up the race results, please make sure that all the details of the other person are entered, especially their name, age and gender.
Yes, we will organise the start area so that the faster runners are at the front. Please adhere to this as it will ultimately benefit the race experience of all runners. There will not be more than one wave of runners, so everybody will start at the same time. However, the will be a restricted start line width, which will ensure that the field is spread out and is for your safety. The event will be timed from chip-to-chip, but gun-to-chip will also be available.
We are keen to encourage entries from all levels of runner, but this is not a walking event so we expect everyone to finish in 2 hours. If you want to run/walk the course that’s fine! If you are very near the back of the field, please be aware that there is a cross over point where it is possible (but very unlikely) that you may encounter the lead runners at the very front of the race coming very quickly. If this happens, please keep to one side of the path and follow any marshal’s instructions.
Yes, you do. When you enter online, the online form will ask you for this information.
If you’ve entered some information incorrectly when signing up, don’t worry. You can log in to the Full On Sport website up until the Saturday before the event and change this. If you are having problems, drop us a line using the Contact Us form until the Friday night before the event and we’ll sort it for you.
We strongly recommend that you don’t listen to music during the race. This is for your own safety as one part of the course is on a public road. Other parts of the course are narrow in places, and you must be able to hear a runner behind you that is wanting to get past. If you do insist on listening to music, please consider only using one earphone so you have some awareness of your surroundings and you can hear the instructions of our marshals.
Parking is available free of charge on the grasscrete car park behind the rugby stadium, signposted ‘Car Park 6’. (The Rushmoor parkrun car park). This is accessed from Princes Avenue, Aldershot, GU11 2LQ.
If you are coming from the Farnborough direction, or if you want a quick getaway after the event, you can use alternate parking for a small fee of 70p for 3 hours (or 90p for 4 hours) at Napier Gardens short stay car park on Redvers Buller Road, North Camp, GU11 2JH. From here it is only a 1km walk to the rugby stadium.

Yes, you can transfer your race number to another person aged 16 or over. You can do this yourself up until midnight on the Friday before the race by logging in to the Full On Sport website. To avoid messing up the race results, please make sure that all the details of the other person are entered, especially their name, age, gender, and club.
Dogs are permitted (on a lead) at the fun run start line on Queen’s Parade, but unfortunately they are not permitted in the Rugby Stadium, where the 10k finishes (except for guide dogs). Therefore, dogs are not permitted on the 10k. This is a restriction imposed by the land manager and is out of our control.
