Final Instructions for Rushmoor Wellesley 10k

On Tuesday 9th October  your race number will show here (on left hand side) To make the queues quicker try and remember your number.

Then please take this email to pick up your number this will take place at Aldershot Cricket Club GU124BP on the following dates either :

Wednesday 10th October 2018 – 6pm to 9pm SEE Special Facebook event
Saturday 13th October 2018 – 8.30am to 12pm (midday) see Facebook event 

On the day Sunday 14th Oct at Aldershot Rugby Stadium GU11 2TD This will be possible between 8 am and 9.15 am from the registration

*Important – Please do not use another persons number without notifying us, you will not be covered by our insurance and this is could unfairly alter the Race results.

Tip – the 2k Fun Run will be registering on the day ….. so please try and pick up beforehand.

Race Day Schedule

8:00 am Race registration and bag drop opens in the Front of the stadium
10:00am 10k Race and Fun Run start – Queen’s Avenue Playing Fields, Aldershot (just over the road – same as parkrun start) Important information on the field the 10k Runners should be to the right of the rope – the Fun run 2k on the left (see diagram)
11.00am to 11:30am – Nepalese Dancing and singing
11.30am – Prize giving

The Course

This is a trail race there will be roots, sticks, stones, grass, tarmac and Gravel towpaths. Please take care. The routes will be marked with yellow arrows and red and white tape, there will be marshals at points all around the course, please follow only the marshal`s directions.
Only the 10k has a water stop this is at about 5k, if you need to walk at any time please stay on the left of the course to allow runners to pass on the right, runners please only pass on the right.

This is a trail run but we advise normal trainers will be ok.

Strictly no DOGS
No bikes are allowed on the course.
Road junctions we are not allowed to stop cars, please listen to road marshals they are there to help.
Please very important please do not drop any litter, Gels are easier to carry when empty.

We are kindly given permission from the Basingstoke canal authority, Blackwater countryside trust, Army Golf Course and MOD, to run on this private land, Please respect this beautiful place, do not damage any of the land , please do not go off the marked trail, picnics and rest can be taken at the finish – our marshals are all volunteers and would also like to join you at the finish
Most importantly – Enjoy the Run
Some of you will not have run 10k before, you can do this, take a look at the scenery and enjoy. Some of you have done Hundreds of 10k`s….. enjoy the views and remember “The course is flat and Theres a PB bell to ring at the finish”

How to get there

Location – Army Rugby Stadium, Queens Avenue, Aldershot. GU11 2TD
Race HQ (Toilets, refreshments, registration and bag drop)
Start – Queen’s Avenue Playing Fields, Aldershot (just over the road – same as parkrun start)
Finish – Aldershot Army Rugby Stadium, Queen’s Avenue, Aldershot

Travel by Public Transport
The race start and finish is approximately 2.5 miles from Aldershot Railway Station and 1.5 miles from North Camp Railway Station. There is no connecting bus service from North Camp Station to Queens Avenue in Aldershot but the No. 1 route Stagecoach Goldline bus service runs from Aldershot Railway Station every 10 minutes. There is a stop in Queens Avenue, a short walk from the start.
The No. 1 route bus service also connects Farnborough Main Railway Station.
Travel by Car
From the A331 North Camp exit and head down Lynchford Road towards Farnborough. At the next roundabout turn left onto Queens Avenue. Take the second exit at the next roundabout. The race starts on the playing fields to your right about a quarter of a mile down the road. Parking is in the Sports Centre, car park 6, next to the Garrison Sports Centre. To reach this turn left into Princes’ Avenue at the traffic lights after passing the Army Rugby Stadium on your left. Follow the road round to the left and then follow the road to the end, turning left before the barracks. The car park is on your left and is signposted from Queens Avenue. Please do not park in any of the other car parks.

From the A325 at the Alison’s exit. Turn left onto Alison’s Avenue and then left again at the first set of lights into Queens Avenue. Princes Avenue is on your right and the start of the race is on your left.

Travel on Foot – bike
The Basingstoke canal tow path runs from Woking to Queens Avenue and also from Fleet/ Basingstoke in the other direction. The race start and finish is about a 30 minute walk from Aldershot town centre along Hospital Hill and then Queens Avenue.
