Our Inaugural 2k fun run is here... And it's free!
10am - Sunday 8th October 2017
The Rushmoor Wellesley 10k is now a firm fixture in the local event calendar. However, we recognise that a 10k isn't for everyone, especially the kids.
This year will see the inaugural Rushmoor Wellesley 2k Fun Run, a FREE event aimed at providing those with less running ability a chance to get involved.
The 2k race will start at the same time as the main 10k race, providing a great atmosphere for all.
Entries are NOT AVAILABLE IN ADVANCE; They will be available on the day. We are restricting this event to 500 and each entry will be available on a first come, first served basis.
The races start at 10am with registration for the 2k fun run opening at 8am.
Here’s some of our 2k Fun Run Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
We strongly recommend that you don’t listen to music during the race. This is for your own safety as parts of the course are on open roads. If you do insist on listening to music, please consider only using one earphone so you have some awareness of your surroundings and you can hear the instructions of our marshals.
For 2017, as it’s our first one, the 2k fun run will be completely free.
Sign up and registration will take place on the morning of the race, on a first come, first served basis. Registration opens at 8am and closes again at 9.45am.
The race starts at 10am and will set off at the same time as the 10k.
The minimum age for entering the 2k fun run is 5 years old. However, children under the age of 9 years old MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times.
The fun run completes a 2k (approximately) lap of Queen’s Parade, which is the starting location for the 2k and 10k events. Although they start together, the course will be different from the 10k so it won’t be possible to run with your child and run the 10k. We are looking into ways to make this possible in future events.
Yes, you can! We’d love you to run with your children, but please remember that you will need to register for the fun run as well. Only runners with a fun run number will be able to take part.
