BVR had a hard time marking out the course on Saturday as it was extremely windy, but Sunday turned out to be a really nice day. We were worried that half the signs might have ended up in the canal overnight, but our special paddleboarder Rob didn’t find any. This year we were using the Rugby Stadium again, but hope to be back in the Athletics Stadium next year. Here are the provisional results.
If you’re missing from the results, or in the wrong results because you switched from the 10k to the 5k, or your age category/club is wrong, please email secretary@bvrunners.org.uk and I’ll look into it.
The winner of the raffle for the free entry to next years’ 10K is Fabian Calli of Cove Joggers. I’ll publish the age category winners later when the results are less provisional.
If you’d like to relive the race there’s a short video here. Steve
The Rushmoor Wellesley 10k is a fantastic, flat, trail race, using the award winning Wellesley Woodlands and Basingstoke canal towpath. The course is mostly on well maintained paths, but with a short, challenging section in the woodlands. Through the woodlands the paths wind in and out between mature trees. Along the canal you can enjoy nature and see some very unique military bridges.
Scenic route – Almost flat course, well signposted, and with plenty of friendly marshals to keep you on the right path. The Wellesley Woodlands received the Green Flag Award in 2022, recognising it as one of the country’s best parks.
The back of the race medal is changed every year and depicts something of interest in the Aldershot area. Have you been collecting the set? You will receive this medal if you finish the 10k or the 5k race. See here for 5k details and race entry. (Age 14+ only if unaccompanied, 11+ if accompanied).
Included in the entry fee:
PB potential – The run starts on the Polo fields in Aldershot and finishes in the Rugby Stadium where you can ring the PB bell …… but only if you’ve earned it!!
Chip timing – To ensure that you get an accurate time.
Ultra wide start line – Everyone will start at or very near the front.
Fully marshalled marked route – marshalled by our friendly marshals.
Bespoke collectable medal – Unique double-sided medal for everyone awarded at the finish. Each year, one side of the medal will depict a different Aldershot landmark. Keep entering (and finishing!) the race to keep collecting!
Free parking – Parking for up to 300 cars. Parking marshals to make sure your entry and exit is as smooth as possible.
Baggage drop – For those not leaving belongings in their car, there’s a fully manned baggage drop, where you can safely leave your belongings whilst you run.
Free run with Blackwater Valley Runners – All participants are invited to a free run with our super friendly club. Pre-registration will take place at our home base (Aldershot Cricket Club) on the Wednesday evening before the race. Avoid the queue for numbers on the day of the race. Join us for a run starting at 7pm! We’ll have several different groups so you can choose your preferred distance/pace – have a look at the table at the end of this web page.
Charity – Blackwater Valley Runners is a not-for-profit organisation so any surplus money from our races is donated to charity. One of the charities supported by the 2025 races will be Step by Step, which supports local young people facing homelessness.
